I watched a TV programme about John Peel and how he listened to any music sent to him. He gave so many pop stars their first airplay who then went on to huge success. There are many more who deserved that success but never had the luck. Then there are people like yourself who have never taken the first step but who may be lucky.

But songwriting is difficult!

Songwriting is not difficult. Most songs are composed on a piano. This is because it is the only instrument that you can play more than one note at a time, unless you are a drummer, but they are all mad. Pop music composers who are wizard guitarists often compose hits on the keyboard.

Children in piano lessons need opportunities to perform, but all of these don t need to involve a formal recital with kids dressed in their Sunday best and all their relatives present. Piano recital parties can be rather spontaneous events that allow children to enjoy sharing their music with other kids in a relaxed way. A musician credited with giving Gospel, Blues, Pop, Rock, R&B and Soul music a healthy dose of premium grade originality is Billy Preston. Billy Preston made many hot, instrumental recordings like many other recording acts such as Dennis Coffey; his Scorpio featured one of the longest bass solos I ever listened to. It lasted for almost 90 seconds. Other acts that made great instrumentals include the Average White Band (”Pick Up The Pieces”), Barry White with his Love Unlimited Orchestra (”Love’s Theme”), Edgar Winter ( Frankenstein”), and another personal favorite of mine, The Incredible Bongo Band ( Bongo Rock ). For many people the ability to own the another types of music that they like is very important. This way they will not have to search for their favorite music channel on the radio in order to listen to some great music. For the people who love to sing at the top of their voices the chance to buy karaoke songs is one of the better ideas that they have heard.

Reading sheet music can be very intimidating for a beginning guitarist. It is, after all, a brand new language composed of a lot of symbols that are new and alien. But Reading sheet music is a must for anyone who wants to be a serious guitarist and it will take your guitar playing well beyond anything that TAB will show you. Tablature is a crutch. It will only teach you how to play songs and compositions by rote. It is true that with Tab you will learn how to play a piece of music but in the process you are missing some of the real things that music, and being a musician are all about.
